victoria

1931 Canadian built Victoria. This vehicle is very unique in that it has black leather upholstery as was offered in Canada as a $18.00 option, per Service Letter #764, dated March 11, 1931. star hupcap

Early Canadian hubcap with Star. These hupcaps were used on early Model A's throughout Canada. They are thought to be produced by the Canadian Motor Lamp company. The star trademark is virtually the same as what this company used on helmut's they supplied during the second world war.

Very early Canadian cast Model A block. "CA67" serial number. Note the "W" for "Windsor", Ontario. Photo supplied by Justin Bicknell of New Zealand. Early Canadian cast blocks were marked with a "W" in the casting as pictured on the front of the engine block. This "W" on later blocks migrated to the back of the block as pictured below.

McKinnon Industries made a number of tools for Ford of Canada during the Model T and A era. McKinnon pliers supplied for Model A's have a very distinct "Thistle" logo and Ford Logo.

Shocks

Hassler Shocks were commonly used on Model A's throughout the prairie provinces, but have also been found on Canadian produced Model A's in Australia.
   
AL Dist Housing

AutoLite Canada produced distributor bodies, note the combined AL in the photo.
EP Exhaust

Eureka Planter started off as a farm implement company in the late 1800's, but in later years produced a wide range of castings for Ford of Canada. Their Model A exhaust manifolds are easily identified by the raised chimneys or tits from casting.

Eureka Planter Model A exhaust manifolds are stamped near the flange with a casting number, followed by the initials EP.
AL Exhaust

Autolite Canada also produced exhaust manifolds, they can be easily identified by 3 raised circular patterns on the facing. Near the flange, on the back side you will usually find A.L. followed by a casting number.

EP Outlet

Eureka Planter also produced water inlets and outlets for Ford of Canada. This one is clearly marked with a casting number followed by EP.
EP Pump

Eureka Planter produced water pumps for Ford of Canada. This one is clearly marked with a casting number followed by EP.
EP 5

Eureka Planter produced transmission cases for Model A's as well. Markings on this one are in the bottom left hand corner of the photo. (E.P. 5).
AL Case

W2

Ford of Canada also produced their own Model A transmission cases, this has a raised W2 centered on the left side. "W" was used for "Windsor", the 2 represents the 2nd casting.
Rear Main

Eureka Planter produced many engine part castings for Model A's. This rear main cap clearly shows E.P. in the casting.
W2 Head

Ford of Canada produced heads and blocks. Most early heads were marked with a raised "W" followed by a casting number. "W" represented "Windsor". The raised "W" casting mark on blocks can be found directly behind the timing cover on early blocks. Late blocks often have raised casting marks at or near the crankcase area.

Universal Joint

Dominion Forge forged Universal Joint. Note the combined DF in the photo. Most early parts were well marked. Some markings ceased in later years of production.

Canadian made Cut-out - Autolite Canada cutouts have a "C" stamp mark directly below the Ford script. The "C" stamp mark was done to brand the item so that when Canada Customs officials inspected Ford plants across Canada, they could in fact determine at a glance that Canadian made parts were being used. The "C" stamp mark varied in size as well as the angle to the Ford script.

 

 

In 1934 a service replacement from "Autolite Canada" was made available with a very distinct Maple Leaf Mark. (A) for Autolite was also stamped inside the Maple Leaf. Although these cutouts occasionally show up at swap meets, etc., they are in fact later service replacements, and not original Model A equipment. Royal Mail Deluxe Delivery - The Royal Mail or more commonly known today as Canada Post used the occasional Model T or A to deliver mail in Canada. Here's an original factory photo of a pages/1930 Royal Mail Deluxe Delivery.

 

29 Sport Roadster

August 24, 1929 Ford of Canada announced the "Sport Roadster" as a new passenger model. Standard equipment included, "Folding Windshield" with Nickel-plated brass brackets, Dust Hood (cover over folded top), Spare Wheel and Tire carried forward in driver side front fender, Trunk Rack, Full Bar Bumper on rear in place of Bumperettes, Wind Wings and Rumble Seat. Special Colors included "Mount Vernon Green, Nankeen Brown and Henna Red". Mouldings and rear deck were finished in black, with double striping of Cameo Cream.
